Three Fayette County firefighters were taken to local hospitals Saturday after being injured fighting a house blaze just outside Peachtree City.

Lt. Donnie Davis told Channel 2 Action News that two of the firefighters were flown to Grady Memorial Hospital's burn unit. Injuries included minor burns and smoke inhalation. The third firefighter suffered an injured ankle.

Battling the blaze at 180 Platnum Ridge Point was made more difficult because of the wind, fire officials said.

"We had some severe wind conditions that pushed the fire through the house," Davis told Channel 2.  "When the wind pushed the fire through the hallway, you're looking at a tunnel -- a fire tunnel at this time.So those guys were in some severe situations."

The firefighters were able to get themselves out of the house, which was considered a total loss.
