Fayette County voters living in District 5 will go the polls today to choose a new member of the county board of commissioners.

The special election was called following the death of Pota Coston from cancer in July.

Three candidates are vying for the seat: Angela Bean, Peyton W. Riley and Charles D. Rousseau.

Only registered voters in District 5 are eligible to vote, and polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the nine precincts within the district.

A map of the voting district is at www.fayettecountga.gov. If necessary, a runoff election will be held Oct. 13.
