A Fayette County commissioner has reaffirmed his opposition to extending TDK Boulevard in southwestern Peachtree City into Coweta County.

Edward “Edge” Gibbons, who was elected to the District 3 seat in 2017, used the commissioners’ reports portion of the Oct. 24 commission meeting to set the record straight about rumors he heard were coming from an unknown source. TDK Boulevard currently extends west from Crosstown Drive across Ga. Hwy. 74 South and dead ends near Lake McIntosh at the county border. Referring to previous discussions regarding Fayette’s master transportation plan, Gibbons said, “I’ve never been in favor of TDK Boulevard extending from Peachtree City into Coweta County…. As a commissioner on this board, it’s not my job to make it easier for the people of Coweta County to move around.”

The idea for the extension has circulated for more than a decade, but has not garnered support from either the commission or the City Council of Peachtree City due to concerns about increased traffic.
