Fayette County students and teachers will still get their regularly scheduled spring break during April 6-10, the school system announced Thursday. Despite the school closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, “We feel it is important for all of us to have some normalcy by keeping spring break as scheduled,” the county said. “Please take this time to try to relax, de-stress, rejuvenate and enjoy some time with your family.”

School system employees under 240-day contracts will get April 8-10 off. Schools will remain closed after the break due to the governor’s order to shut down until April 24, but virtual learning will continue.

Students who need free meals during the break will receive a week’s worth of food on April 3 at the seven locations already distributing them. All school trips scheduled through the end of the regular academic year have been canceled.
