The Fayette County Board of Education will hold two public hearings and comment sessions for the proposed FY2019 budget.
The first will be held at 7 p.m. on May 29 during its monthly board meeting; the second will take place at 2 p.m. on June 11 during its work session. Both meetings will be held at the BOE office at 210 Stonewall Avenue West in Fayetteville. A copy of the budget will be available for public review starting May 29 at www.fcboe.org. The board is scheduled to adopt the final budget at 7 p.m. on June 25. A preview presented at the May 14 work session outlined a proposed general fund of $212.4 million, plus $6.4 million in debt service, $18.9 million for special revenue funds and $300,000 for workers’ compensation.
Next year’s budget reflects more funding for additional teachers and programs as well as an increase in revenue from the state.
