Fayette County employees will not start the Christmas holiday weekend early, but library hours will be cut.

The Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 Dec. 10 to reject a proposal by Chairman Charles Oddo that county offices close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 23. Commissioner Randy Ognio said the Dec. 24-25 holiday closure was sufficient.

However, the board did agree to close the Fayette County Library on Dec. 26 so employees could enjoy the full holiday weekend, and to save on operational costs during a time when library use was expected to be “very low.”
