Fayette County’s proposed FY2020 budget had its first public hearing at the June 13 Board of Commissioners meeting.

Chief Financial Officer Mary Parrott outlined the budget summary, which includes projected General Fund expenses of $55 million and capital improvements of approximately $7 million. No millage increase is planned, and employee benefits will be maintained. The budget includes a 9.09 percent raise for public safety officers to help reduce turnover and meet staffing levels. The commissioners must next decide whether to include salary supplements for several judges and other judicial officers, including the district attorney, which total $64,918.

A second and final hearing will be held at the next commission meeting at 7 p.m. on June 27 in Fayetteville, during which the budget will be voted upon. The full budget can be reviewed online at www.fayettecountyga.gov.
