The Fayette County Board of Commissioners voted 3-1-1 recently to give County Administrator Steve Rapson a one-time 2.4 percent pay adjustment for the next year. Rapson’s current salary is $182,070, and his is a contract position whose salary adjustments must be handled as separate commission actions.

Commissioner Charles Oddo said he felt “an acknowledgment of Rapson’s achievements was warranted” because Rapson’s work on SPLOST and other projects “has helped the county save millions of dollars.”

Commissioner Steve Brown said that Rapson already has “a marvelous compensation package” and that too many budget elements had been presented at the last minute.

Commissioner Charles Rousseau abstained.
