The Fayette County Board of Commissioners has approved rezoning 8.5 acres just south of the Starr’s Mill school complex for construction of a new pediatric medical facility. The board voted 5-0 on Sept. 22 to allow Dr. Megan Almond to build a two-unit office park, which will include golf cart access, a walking trail and a playground. However, the board is asking the Georgia Department of Transportation not to require installation of a restricted-crossing U-turn on Ga. Hwy. 74 South that would force residents of the Brechin Park subdivision to only turn right into or out of their neighborhood. Brechin residents said altering the traffic flow was unnecessary and would cause undue burden for them, commercial trucks and emergency vehicles.
