A Walton County family is still cleaning up after criminals broke in and burglarized their home on Christmas Eve.
By the time Kelly Queen and her family got home late Christmas Eve, everything under and around their Christmas tree was gone.
"That's what the spirit's all about giving and everything and then have someone take it from you," Kelly said.
Burglars broke in while Queen, her husband Matt and her 5-year-old daughter Kayla were at church and cleared out all the presents.
"Clothes, stuff for my mom, my sister … everything," Kelly said.
"It just kind of makes you sick to see stuff like that happen this time of year or any time of year, but this time of year especially," said Matt.
But the burglars didn't just stop under the tree, or with some of the electronics in the living room. It's what they took out of the bedroom that left the family most shaken.
After ransacking the room, the burglars grabbed Kelly's mostly-full jewelry box, her wedding ring and another from her grandmother.
"It had three stones and it was my dad's and it is actually his birthday today, but he died a few years ago," Kelly said.
The crooks even got the scrapbook she made for her mom.
"I was excited about that because my daughter had actually helped me wrap it right before we left to go to church and we had just put it under the tree," Kelly said.
But Christmas Day, family and friends came through with gifts for Kayla and replaced the TV.
"Just gratitude thankful to have the people around us that we do ... have just our family and friends... you can't replace that," Matt said.
And while Walton County deputies search for whomever trashed the Queen's Christmas, they're just happy it wasn't any worse.
"Just glad no one got hurt that no one was here when it happened," Kelly said.
