Falcons defensive coordinator leaving

The Atlanta Falcons announced that defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder is leaving the team to take a similar job at Auburn University.

The Falcons announced the news at their season-ending press conference Monday afternoon.

VanGorder, 52, served as a Falcons assistant coach for four seasons, beginning in 2008. From 2001-2004, he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at the University of Georgia.
