The city of Fairburn announced it is now an affiliate of the Georgia Main Street Network, which follows the National Main Street Center’s approach to downtown revitalization.
City officials said the affiliate status is one of the initial ways of learning more about the program and will help determine whether to apply to become a Classic Main Street community, which would indicate a commitment to downtown revitalization and historic preservation.
Fairburn is joining 17 communities at the affiliate level. In all, there are 106 communities in the affiliate, Classic and Georgia Exceptional Main Streets tiers, the city said.
