You know those rooms that don’t allow players to leave until they’ve solved puzzles and proven their aptitude? They’re called “escape rooms” and downtown Atlanta is getting another one.

Time to Escape is expected to open with four era-themed rooms in Peachtree Center in the fall. It will be part of The Hub, the mixed-use development's dining, retail and entertainment options.

Similar concepts Room Escape and Escape the Room are also located downtown. Time to Escape differentiates itself, a press release said, by featuring in-room actors with special effects that change depending on the players' decisions.

Dan Cleveland founded Time to Escape in 2016 with a Brookhaven location.

“When thinking about the theme or the vision for the various escape rooms, I think about experiences that would interest me or my son,” Cleveland said in a statement.

The business will be located at the International Boulevard entrance, across from Salata in the three-story retail center. The company tailors experiences to businesses and corporate offices looking to host team-building events; it also hosts birthday parties and date nights.

CBRE First Vice President Amy Fingerhut, who represented Peachtree Center in leasing to Time to Escape, said the group “actively sought to bring in a new type of tenant that would continue to excite the 12 million people who visit The Hub annually.”

The Peachtree Center location will be Cleveland’s third location in the southeast. The ticket price per person is $29 before tax; there is no charge for children 4 years old or under.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
