The Gwinnett County Environmental and Heritage Center in Buford will get a new festival field, more parking and a new storage building.

Last week the county Board of Commissioners awarded a $2.2 million contract to Ed Castro Landscape Inc. for the improvements. The 2,400-square-foot storage building will free up space in the main building for programs. The field will provide space for camping, concerts and other outdoor events.

Commissioners also awarded a $210,000 contract to Macallan Group to relocate the old Lee Farm barn from Five Forks Trickum Road in Lilburn to the environmental center.
