A summer program that is part camp, part school is bringing seniors and youth together in East Point.
The Summer Safety Initiative provides recreation, mentoring and day trips for more than 100 kids from ages 9 to 16 and 50 senior citizens. The seven-week program is free but relies on donations and gifts for much of the activities.
Now in its third year, the program is the brainchild of East Police Chief Leander Robinson in partnership with New Grant Chapel AME Church, St. Mark Lutheran Church and St. John AME Church.
For information about the program or how to donate, call the police department at 404-559-6291.
