The East Point Transportation Division of the Public Works Department will hold a meeting about the Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax referendum on November’s general election ballot. The meeting is to talk about the projects which could be funded by this tax if approved. The first of two meetings will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Park Recreation Center, 431 Norman Berry Drive.
Another meeting will be held Oct. 19.
On Nov. 8 residents of South Fulton County will vote on the referendum that, if approved, will fund transportation projects in their cities. The county will set aside 75 percent of each penny in sales tax collected in the county except in the city of Atlanta for five years. The city estimates $34.9 million would be raised for East Point’s transportation improvements.
