Early voting begins Monday for the March 21 election in Cobb County. Voters will decide whether to extend the Education Special Local Option Sales Tax and who will serve Marietta Ward Six on the Marietta School Board. The extension of E-SPLOST would yield $797,022,000 for the Cobb County School District and $62,486,000 for Marietta City Schools.

If approved, this one percent sales and use tax would become effective Jan. 1, 2019 for five years for building improvements and acquisition of land, equipment, safety and security and technology systems.

For the Marietta School Board, either Patricia Echols or Kerry Minervini will be chosen to fill the unexpired term of Tom Cheater who resigned. That term ends Dec. 31.

The Elections Office, West Park Government Center, 736 Whitlock Ave., Marietta will be open for voting 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through March 17.
