Dunwoody won a state court ruling recently concerning the use of an LED display sign by a local business owner. In a case against Olympus Media, the Georgia Court of Appeals issued a judgment stating “that the full LED sign face does not comport with the consent order” that was issued by DeKalb County before Dunwoody became incorporated in December 2008.

The court ordered the removal of the LED sign on the billboard located at North Peachtree Road and Interstate 285, stating the owner must return to using the static sign that was in place before installing the LED sign.

The Georgia State Supreme Court denied the company’s appeal.

“We are pleased with the court’s ruling,” said Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal. “Our goal is to protect the interests of our residents. Large LED billboards, located anywhere within our city, do not reflect the character of Dunwoody nor the wishes of our citizens.”
