The Duluth City Council voted Monday to revise the city’s Code of Ordinance related to Alcohol to redefine ‘Special Events Facilities.’ As approved by the Alcohol Review Board, the amendment changes the definition for a ‘Special Events Facility’ to allow more flexibility for businesses to become eligible and apply for this type of license.
Additionally, the change will allow renters of such facilities to provide alcohol for their guests. Previously, the only time alcohol could be brought on premise of an establishment holding an occupational tax or exemption certificate, without a full retail or consumption on premise license, was with an Art Shop license in the commercial zoning district.
