The Duluth City Council voted recently to amend the city’s code of ordinances related to alcohol beverages. The first change relaxes the alcohol beverage license fingerprint requirement to allow establishment owners who live in other states to provide a set of fingerprints, in lieu of appearing in person, as part of their application.
The second amendment will allow restaurant patrons to bring their own unopened bottle of wine. The restaurant will be required to charge a minimum corkage fee of $10 per bottle. The restaurant must be licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.
The third amendment puts the city in compliance with a new state law that requires notification within 45 days of disciplinary action against any person with an alcohol beverage license. It also gives guidelines for under-age patrons and states no person under the age 21 can be employed as a bouncer.
