The Duluth City Council will host a cultural exchange with a delegation of people representing Africa’s Awing kingdom, including His Royal Majesty Fon Fozoh II from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 19 at City Hall, 3167 Main St. Awing is a culturally rich tribe in the northwest region of Cameroon whose traditional king, known as the Fon, is the custodian of its cultural heritage.
Duluth also is the site of the third biennial convention of Ndong Awing Cultural and Development Association – North America from June 19-21. NACDA is a vehicle for self-reliant development in the Awing Fondom related to education, health, water, electricity, roads and bridges.
The main goal of this visit will be a cultural exchange between the Fondom, or kingdom, of Awing and Duluth. The program will include presentations by respective representatives, memorabilia exchange and a tour of Duluth’s infrastructure, including the police department.
