Duluth residents who want to learn more about their city can apply for a citizen engagement academy.

Learn, Engage, Advance Duluth Academy — known as L.E.A.D — is entering its 12th year. It’s set to begin Feb. 1.

Seven Tuesday night sessions will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the class will have one Monday session — Feb. 24 — when the class will start at 5:30 p.m. to attend the City Council work session. All classes take place at Duluth City Hall and include snacks or a light dinner.

The classes provide a good foundation for residents to get involved in the community, according to a statement about the program. It’s intended to give residents insight into how city decisions are made and access to becoming more involved in the community.

The deadline for applications is Jan. 31. For more information and an application go to www.duluthga.net/lead. Call Alisa Williams with questions at 678-475-3506 or email awilliams@duluthga.net.
