The Memorial Day weekend got off to a bad start Friday night as rescue workers were called to Lake Allatoona to find the body of a man who jumped from a boat and did not resurface.

Tim Cavender with Cherokee County fire and rescue said a 911 call was placed by boaters at about 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Emergency workers were unable to find the 20-year-old man Friday. The man was in a boat with two other people near Harbor Town Marina, off Galts Ferry Road near Acworth.

The man's identity is known but has not been released.

Dive team members returned to the lake to continue searching for the body early Saturday morning, Cavender said.
