She’s anxious to get out of her wheelchair and is still remorseful that she survived a crash that killed four of her University of Georgia classmates. But Agnes Kim won’t stop fighting to recover, and she’s grateful for all the support she’s received.
"I think your prayers are working because I'm now on my way to getting back to my normal," Kim told Channel 2 Action News.
In April 2016, Kim was days from graduating the night she asked four friends to drive to an Oconee County spot to pray. She was driving on Ga. 15 when her car crossed the center line and hit a car traveling in the opposite direction.

The crash killed all four passengers in Kim’s car: Kayla Leigh Canedo, 20, of Alpharetta; Brittany Katherine Feldman, 20, of Alpharetta; Christina Devon Semeria, 19, of Milton; and Halle Grace Scott, 19, of Dunwoody. Kim survived, but was critically injured, sustaining a brain injury and broken bones.
Kim was in a coma for weeks and later moved from an Athens hospital to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, where she continues outpatient therapy.
“I’m still working on my swallowing and my balance, and not blaming myself for the girls who didn’t make it in my accident,” Kim said.
She would like to return to school to become a physical therapist. Until then, Kim says she wants to continue to inspire others. In June, she will be modeling in the “Project Rollway” fundraiser at Shepherd to raise money for therapy programs.
Kim said she’s motivated not only by God and her family, but also the four friends she lost.
“I hope to get the freak out of this wheelchair and walk,” she said. “God put me in this situation to show me how much I am loved.”
