Officials have identified the victim in a crash that shut down eastbound lanes of I-20 in Douglas County Thursday evening.

Kirk Nixon, 58, of Douglasville, was killed after he was thrown from his vehicle, Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel said Friday.

He was not wearing a seat belt when his vehicle flipped near Lee Road, the Georgia State Patrol said. No one else was injured in the one-vehicle crash.

Nixon’s vehicle came to rest in a ditch off the freeway, the GSP said. The investigation is ongoing.
