Douglas County home leveled by fire
A house in western Douglas County was leveled by a fire overnight.
Only the chimney remained standing early Friday at the home on East Liberty Road near Villa Rica, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The fire also destroyed three vehicles parked outside the house.
No injuries were reported.
Lois Shead, 74, and her family were away on a vacation in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., during the blaze.
Her daughter Rachel Loren told Channel 2, "You know, God has a way of doing things. There was a reason for us not to be there. So everybody's safe. Everybody's healthy, and we'll just rebuild and move on."
