"These are able-bodied adults. They don't have any kids," said state Rep. David Clark, R-Buford. "All we are saying is get out of the house and get a job. Don't sit home all day."

New rules say thousands of food stamp recipients must get into a job or job training. The rules apply to certain recipients in Cobb, Gwinnett and Hall counties, but officials expect to expand the program next year.

The state also has a program aimed at helping them get a job. But some people are skeptical it will do much good.
