DOT awards Forsyth road contracts
The Georgia Department of Transportation said that two of more than 30 contracts awarded for roadwork statewide April 1 have a bearing on Forsyth County.
DOT officials said one of the awards is for an approximately .7 mile project widening and realigning Ga. 53 beginning north of Dogwood Path and extending north of the Chestatee River. The work in Forsyth and Hall Counties also includes a bridge over and approaches to the river.
The $19.8 million project was awarded to Scott Bridge Company of Opelika, Alabama, and is slated for completion in March of 2019. The second is for approximately 7.6 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on Ga.369 in Forsyth beginning west of Holtzclaw Road and extending to Browns Bridge Road. It was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting of Marietta for $2.46 million and carries a Feb 28, 2017 completion date.
