Avondale Estates city manager Clai Brown confirmed Thursday the Euramex Management group closed on 13 undeveloped acres adjacent to downtown. The property is the former site for Georgia Duck & Cordage Mill and later Fenner Dunlop, the former business dating to 1916.

The mill buildings were razed with the property annexed into the city in 2010 and zoned for mixed use.

Mayor pro tem Terry Giager said that Euramex recently presented a first draft or “rendering” for the property which included retail construction, green space, tennis courts and roughly 250 to 300 apartments.

Giager added he expects to see a more definitive master plan, possibly as early as next week. Back in August Euramex purchased 2.77 acres on College Avenue and Maple Street, site of the so-called “erector set,” also slated for mixed-use development.
