DeKalb schools lockdowns lifted with capture of shooting suspect

With the capture of the second suspect in the shooting of two DeKalb police officers, the lockdown of six schools in the county has been lifted.

The lockdown came during the manhunt for at least one suspect after two police officers were shot Friday morning at an apartment complex near Glenwood Road and Austin Drive. Follow updates on the search here.

Four schools were placed on soft lockdown, which means movements in and out of the schools were restricted, DeKalb schools spokesman Quinn Hudson told Channel 2 Action News. Two schools were added later in the morning. The schools are:

Canby Lane Elementary, added later,

and Wadsworth Magnet.

The original schools:

Snapfinger Elementary, 1365 Snapfinger Road, Decatur

DeKalb Preparatory Academy, 1402 Austin Drive, Decatur

Columbia High, 2106 Columbia Drive, Decatur

Towers High, 3919 Brookcrest Circle, Decatur
