The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will begin the countywide implementation of one-day-a-week sanitation collection service beginning Monday. All single-family residential customers within the sanitation division’s service areas will receive same-day garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings recycling collection.

The county’s twice-a-week garbage collection service was implemented in 1937. In 1991, once-a-week yard trimmings recycling collection was added to the sanitation division’s collection service offering, and once-a-week single-stream recycling collection was added in 2005.

The Independence Day holiday collection schedule marks the end of the county’s twice-a-week garbage collection service for all single-family residential customers.
