An exhibit that looks at the impact of black players in baseball from 1860s to the present is now on display at the main DeKalb County library in Decatur.
Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience will be on display at the branch on Sycamore Street until Dec. 4, when it moves to the Hairston Crossing library in Stone Mountain.
The exhibit will look at the Negro Leagues as well as teams and players in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
The library will also host a series of events tied to the exhibit. Baseball historian will talk with James “Red” Moore about his career with the Atlanta Black Crackers at a program Nov. 20 at the Decatur branch.
In another program, Emory University professor Dana White will discuss the role of baseball in culture on Dec. 13 at the Hairston Crossing branch.
A film series and special events for children also are planned. For more information, visit www.dekalblibrary.org or visit any DeKalb library branch.
