A tree trimmer was killed Saturday after getting tangled in wires outside a DeKalb County home, firefighters said.

Crews responded to a call about an unconscious man in a tree along Pleasant Forest Road just before 2 p.m., authorities said.

A neighbor told Channel 2 Action News an accident left the man hanging upside down for nearly two hours. DeKalb firefighters worked frantically to pull him out of the tree, but it was too late, the news station reported.

DeKalb fire Capt. Dion Bentley said Saturday afternoon that crews were trying to get to the man, who was about 50 feet up.

He said the man was at the home with a group of people and that it appeared to be a “working accident.”

A work truck at the scene belongs to Atlanta-based Perez G. Tree Services, Channel 2 reported.

The man has not been identified.
