Construction and rehabilitation of the River Road Bridge over Conley Creek will begin Monday and last through Jan. 31, county officials anticipate.

The bridge was severely damaged during a traffic accident earlier this year. An inspection by Georgia Department of Transportation determined that the rehabilitation is necessary for the safety of motorists. DeKalb County has hired an engineering firm to design and repair the bridge.

During the construction period, a section of River Road will close for safety reasons. Detours will be posted to give motorists alternate routes.
