With major upgrades to a high-profile DeKalb County roadway completed, the East Metro DeKalb Community Improvement District will host a ribbon cutting for its Wesley Chapel Road north median beautification project 10 a.m. Aug. 5. Attendees should meet at the Economy Inn parking lot, 2565 Wesley Chapel Road to receive escorted access to the median.

The Wesley Chapel Road project is the CID’s first beautification initiative.

The CID’s project partners include the South DeKalb Improvement Association and Wesley Chapel Curb Appeal Task Force. Russell Landscape Group, Keep DeKalb Beautiful and Home Depot donated plant materials and landscaping expertise to make the beautification possible.

The CID also partners with the Southeast Police Taskforce, which operates at the direction of the south and east DeKalb County Police precincts.

The East Metro DeKalb CID formed in 2014 through a unanimous vote of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. CID membership is growing and increasing the revenues to leverage more project funding. The CID includes more than 200 property owners, and projected revenue from 2015 taxes is approximately $213,000.
