A DeKalb County Chinese restaurant narrowly passed a follow-up inspection after a failing grade last month, when the inspector noted flies “throughout” the business. Now, the inspector says the flies remain and insects were found in rice and flour.
Magic Wok, located at 4857 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, received a 70 this week, up from 64, according to the inspector's report. A 70 is passing.
“I’m really trying my best to get it fixed,” said employee Danny Lee. “This is too strict for me. I think we’re doing a good job. Nobody ever got sick from eating our food.”
Asked about the flies, he said it’s a tricky problem.
“When a customer comes in they can follow customers,” he said. “I can limit that. But there’s no way to keep it 100 percent.”
The inspector said a door was also propped open with cardboard. Other issues noted this week were raw egg shells stored above ready-to-eat food, food not labeled with the date it was cooked and food and heavy buildup in a freezer.
