Thanks to a DeKalb business owner, three children will be attending summer day camps for free this year.

A donation from Yolanda Bethea, CEO of Bethea & Associates LLC of Decatur, has given them the opportunity to attend an eight-week long summer camp in one of the county's recreation centers, according to a news release from DeKalb County.

The weekday camp runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offers physical, educational and creative activities for the youth.

“Ms. Bethea is a perfect example of how citizens, and business owners in particular, can partner with DeKalb County to improve the quality of life for our youngest residents,” said DeKalb Interim CEO Lee May in the release.

And this isn't her first time donating, either. According to Roy Wilson, director of the county's Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, Bethea has provided scholarships over the past three years at an estimated cost of $4,000.

“It’s just sort of a win-win to be able to provide an opportunity for children to experience a summer filled with entertaining activities and to allow parents to go to work and know that their kids are safe.” Bethea said in the release.

“I love giving back to the community and it is very easy when kids are the center of the cause.”
