Five families were displaced Thursday in a DeKalb County apartment fire in the 1400 block of North Hairston Road, in Stone Mountain, metro Atlanta fire officials said.

The fire, in the attic at Mountain Lake Apartments, destroyed three apartment units and filled others with smoke. But fire officials said 25 residents had been accounted for by 5 a.m., and residents who were unaccounted for in one unit reportedly left their apartment.

The fire wasn’t the only blaze impacting DeKalb County overnight.

Another fire on Carolyn Drive led one person to be hospitalized for smoke inhalation after 3 a.m. Thursday.
