The Decatur Terrace neighborhood delivered a petition to Decatur commissioners Monday asking for inclusion onto the city’s annexation map, while also filing a petition with Avondale Estates asking for removal from its map.
Decatur Terrace, with 147 properties, is just east of Decatur and just south of College Avenue.
Decatur city manager Peggy Merriss said she wasn’t sure how many annexation petitions she’d received.
“I have a lot of pieces of paper on my desk,” she said.
Decatur’s deadline for filing a petition is Friday. Decatur Terrace now becomes the second area (along with the Rio Circle commercial district) asking to leave Avondale’s map for Decatur’s.
