Decatur will hold a grand opening of its newly renovated main fire station Tuesday.

The opening runs from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday and includes tours of the firehouse on East Trinity Place.

The $2.5 upgrade adds central heating and air for the first time to the station, which also now meets LEED standards with energy-efficient windows and garage doors.

Firefighters, who had been working out of a temporary site on Church Street or the city's Oakhurst station, returned to the facility a few weeks ago.
