The McDonough City Council voted to approve an intergovernmental agreement with the Henry County Board of Commissioners for a passive park off Jonesboro Road and Wesley Lakes Blvd. The property will have walking trails and other facilities.

Under the agreement, the city will be responsible for approval of the park’s development plan as well as construction and maintenance costs. The county will provide engineering and design services related to grading, drainage and stormwater management plans for the park entrance and parking lot. The city and county purchased the land for $2.278 million in a deal that was finalized in late 2008. The city paid $1 million of that.

City officials said other plans related to the park could come before the council at its next meeting.
