Intermittent daytime lane closures begin this week on the Ga. 400 flexible shoulder or “flex” lanes in the Sandy Springs area in preparation for the reconstruction of the Ga. 400/I-285 interchange.

North Perimeter Contractors, the Georgia Department of Transportation’s design-build construction partner, will periodically close the northbound and southbound Ga. 400 flex lanes between the MARTA North Springs exit and Pitts Road. The closures will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The closures will aid tree clearing and utility relocation prior to the construction of collector-distributor lanes to improve overall traffic flow and safety, GDOT said. Closures will be announced 72 hours in advance and posted on the project website and at Georgia 511.

In related work, contractors will close one right lane from Hammond Drive to Johnson Ferry Road from 8 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday. They also will close one right lane on northbound Ga. 400 from Johnson Ferry to Hammond from 8 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday.
