City of Cumming officials say a major part of planned improvements at City Park should now be finished right around the first of the year, about three months behind the original schedule.
Recreation and Parks Director Greg Little said the holdup is due partly to rainy weather, and partly because the original bids came in higher than expected, forcing city officials to redesign portions of the project to conform to a $2.7 million budget.
Little said that with the building now closed-in from the elements, inside contractors should make steady progress.
The 27,000-square-foot building will include a conference center and house many of the park department’s programs, including art and fitness programs, day camps and dance events.
