A west coast gang member who goes by two different names received a 19 year sentence Wednesday after taking a plea deal for a 2013 murder, Cobb County officials said.
Willie Danyell Hunt, a/k/a Curley Dean Holden, 26, of Los Angeles, admitted to his role in the January 2013 shooting death of rapper Justin Mitchell, also known "Yung Teddy."
Hunt is a documented member of the Rolling 30 Harlem Crips gang out of Los Angeles, said Kim Isaza, spokeswoman for Cobb County District Attorney.
“Gang violence is a reality and lives are being lost,” Deputy Chief ADA Jesse Evans said. “It’s a credit to Cobb Police and their thorough investigation that this did not remain an unsolved murder.”
After accepting the plea, Cobb County Judge Mary E. Staley handed down her sentence. Hunt has been in custody since his arrest a few weeks after the killing and will get credit for the time served, Isaza said.
Hunt, who had an accomplice, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. His accomplice remains unidentified, investigators said.
