A Covington man was killed Friday afternoon after he pulled out of his driveway and into the path of an oncoming Newton County school bus.

James Alexander Cooper, 21, was attempting to turn left out of his residence on Ga. 36 when he was hit by the bus a little before 2 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Only one of the 16 middle school students on the bus reported an injury, and it was not believed to be serious.

No charges will be filed against the bus driver, a GSP spokesman said.
