The state’s top three targets for future toll lane expansions are I-285’s top end; Ga. 400 north of I-285; and the Gwinnett Connector, an extension of Sugarloaf Parkway from Ga. 316 to Peachtree Industrial Blvd., the state Department of Transportation announced this month. Tolls and private investment would help pay for widening or extending the roads. The same three projects were on the department’s list in 2009, though there were many more projects at that time. Study is under way on all three.

The state’s focus is currently on a project to add optional toll lanes alongside I-75 and I-575 in Cobb and Cherokee counties, as DOT awaits a decision on a federal loan.
