Man convicted of rape, murder of girlfriend

Sometime between Feb. 23 and 24 of 2007, prosecutors say Booth beat his 35-year-old girlfriend to a point that her face was unrecognizable, causing a brain injury that killed her.

He is eligible for parole on both life sentences because he committed the crimes before state law was changed, court officials said.

Booth had served two years of a five-year sentence from 2007 to 2009 in the Autry State Prison for conviction on a 2004 stalking charge, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
