The American Cancer Society event, which honors cancer survivors and pays tribute to those fighting cancer, needs creative, take charge individuals who enjoy exceeding goals.

United Way Day of Caring in Forsyth

The United Way of Forsyth County is gearing up for its 12th annual Day of Caring and Campaign Kickoff at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Cumming.

Town hall meeting will be Sept. 14

Henry County Commissioner Bo Moss will host a town hall meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Locust Grove Recreation Center, 10 Cleveland St. in Locust Grove. Scheduled guest speakers are county Solicitor General Trea Pipkin and GRTA executive director Bert Brantley.

Pipkin will give citizens an overview of Henry County’s criminal justice system and Brantley will discuss plans for I-75 express lanes. Monroe Roark for the AJC

National Night Out set for tonight

Henry County’s law enforcement and emergency service agencies are hosting the annual National Night Out from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 3 in front of the Target at Henry Town Center in McDonough. It is a free event for the whole family to meet various law enforcement officers and see their equipment and vehicles. There will also be free food and giveaways from area merchants.

Fish Fry festival set for Saturday in Clayton

Clayton County International Park, 2300 Highway 138 S.E, Jonesboro. will host the “Life’s a Fish and Then You Fry” festival and concert 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Fireworks at dusk.
