Bank inside Mableton grocery store robbed
Cobb County police were searching Saturday for a man who the day before robbed a bank inside a grocery store.
Police said the man passed a “demand note” Friday at the Best Bank inside the Kroger on Floyd Road and was given an undetermined amount of cash. The man left in a car with a light, metallic color, police said.
The man is described as a black male in his late 30s to early 40s who was wearing a white button-down shirt and a dark blazer at the time of the robbery. He also had on a Kangol-style hat and eyeglasses.
Police released photos from bank surveillance cameras, and anyone with knowledge about the case is asked to call police at 770-499-3945. Christopher Seward
Golf tournament to benefit pantry, schools
The registration deadline is Monday for the fifth annual Powder Springs Business Association Golf Tournament to help an Austell food and clothing pantry and Powder Springs-area schools.

Deal to join Cain for book signing today
The DeKalb County Republican Party will host presidential hopeful Herman Cain and Gov. Nathan Deal from 5-8 p.m. today at the 57th Fighter Group restaurant, 3829 Clairmont Road. The restaurant is adjacent to Peachtree-DeKalb Airport. Cain will be signing his new book, “This is Herman Cain, My Journey to the White House,” which is slated for release this week. Police seek woman missing for a week
DeKalb police are looking for a Lithonia woman who has not been seen in a week.
Police have found a vehicle that belongs to Shawndell McLeod, 35, who was last seen at her home at 12:15 a.m. Sept. 25. Authorities say she was supposed to be at work at 3 a.m. that day, but she never showed up.
