County schedules public hearings on millage rate
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners will hold hearings for comments on proposed millage rates: 11 a.m. and6:30 p.m. Monday and 6:30 p.m. July 14 in the auditorium of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville. The millage rate adoption is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. July 15. Commissioners are considering adopting the same millage rate as last year, which will result in more property tax revenue due to an increase in property values. Sugar Hill looking for concert musicians
Musicians, 18 years and up, are invited to join the inaugural season of the Broad St. Concert Band@Sugar Hill. Musicians with all levels of experience welcome. The Broad St. Concert Band@Sugar Hill will play in the 75th Anniversary Celebration of Sugar Hill on August 2. Rehearsals: 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Tuesdays each month in the Sugar Hill Annex. Juvenile court awarded $400,000 grant
The DeKalb County Juvenile Court has been awarded a $400,000 grant to provide services to teenage offenders enrolled in an alternative sentencing program.
The grant from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council will provide services to an additional 60 teenagers referred to the court for a felony charge or probation violation.
Youth who would have previously been sentenced to short-term treatment programs or committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice will also continue to receive services.

Forsyth annual report available
Forsyth County officials say the county’s 2013 Annual Report is now available. It chronicles last year’s accomplishments, including a list of government projects plus financial data. The report can be viewed online at forsythco.com, and print copies are available at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming.

Connect 400 meetings in Roswell, Alpharetta
MARTA will host meetings 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Johns Creek Environmental Campus, 8100 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell; and 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Georgia State University’s Alpharetta Center, 3775 Brookside Highway, Alpharetta to gather comments and input on proposed transit expansion in north Fulton County along the Ga. 400 corridor.
MARTA representatives will present information on the Connect 400 Initiative, a proposed extension of rail or bus service north from the North Springs rail station to the Windward Parkway interchange.
The input will include the findings from a survey conducted by Kennesaw State University, as well as information regarding potential expansion alternatives.
